Im copy n pasting this from another forum -

Ive always wanted to have a clio with a turbo ...this is my first car had it over 3years now.

Engine has had a full rebuild 10k ago previous owner showed me reciepts :)

My clio before i took it off the road -

So i took it off the road after FCS 08 for the conversion.

I got engine out ..was greeted with this-
Image

As you can see ..pretty rusty ..it then got welded and patched up..new inner wing, treated and sprayed gloss black.

After that ..treated subframe ..painted it with a anti-rust paint -

Engine on frame-

Then engine into car -

This is my dash ..customised by me ...cars fully stripped out ...aftermarket guages are awaiting-

All pipes in and intercooler pipes cut to size -

After this i got my mate reco round to do the wiring....got ht leads on and it fired up then cut out ..followed by starting again then missfiring ..then followed by some carb popping lol.

So im currently waiting on sparkplugs for it.

I also got my exhaust welded and a sleve added for my 5gtt downpipe to fit my clio exhaust system courtesy of simons exhausts in East Kilbride.

Anyway got the bumper on and its currently sat like this -

Spec is -

Fully rebuilt C1J Renault 5gtt Engine
T25 Turbo From A Rover Tomcat
Forge Front Mount Intercooler
5gtt Gearbox,Clio 16v Driveshafts,hubs and front brake setup.

Coming soon -

Piper Cam
And More Boost!

Hope you have enjoyed my project ..iive done this on a budget due to me having no job and its my first engine conversion which i recon ive done well :D

So got fed up waiting and re-arrange the bay. Was speaking to Rob@backyard on msn ..he said i best move the coolant bottle to behind the passenger headlight.

Well since the last update ive moved a lot of pipes about ...and got this -

Image

Im happy to report that it now idles itself ..all i did was clean out the idle jet and fitted a new distributor cap and arm.

Engine runs but it needs setup badly ..the timings out and the fueling is needing set :?

Also went and purchased a half cage ...painted it pink

Image

Will get this welded in when the car gets out the garage under its own steam :)

And today i got all my guages together ...tested them and they work properly 8)

Image

I also filled up the coolant and bled it ...it sits at 80 degrees no problem 8)

Iam in the middle of wiring up a manual fan switch as i aint using the gtt loom.

Also when it was running i noticed an oil leak from the oil filter ...so another thing to sort ..also need to sort the noisey starter motor ...its hard to get into with the turbo being in the way

Thats all i have today folks ...next update should be a vid of it driving out my garage after 6+months of sitting 8)

Well some of you may be wondering whats happening with this project ...its still going on...just slowly..as i dont get much time off work.

To sum it up ...ive got it running/setup by the RTOC chairman ...when it was setup ..we found a knocking noise coming from the waterpump area. I tested the water pump by taking the alternator belt off ...it aint that ...so ive come down to the timing chain tensioner as its common on these gtt engines. So in a nutshell ive got to forkout for a new chain and tensioner and a brandnew waterpump. Im getting the new waterpump to be on the safeside :)

This car will be on the road in a few weeks ..depending on money/ MOT bill lol

Ha ..ive not been on here in a wee while ... a big update for ya'll! ..Car is now MOT'd & Taxed :)

Now its running a T2 Turbo ...ive been busy sorting wee niggles..leaks ..the usual stuff you have to sort.

Had the car out proper last nite..went a wee run through East Kilbride ..then up through the Eaglesham Moors ...its running standard boost and in the wet it was wheelspinning a fair bit lol

Its only running 130bhp at the mo i recon ...untill i get new brake calipers for it ...as well ..i do need to stop pmsl

A lot has happened ..ive relocated my battery to the boot...engines been out for new gaskets on the bottom end as it decided to piss oil everywhere ... my t25 turbo died on the way to the MOT station pmsl ..when i had the engine out ..i opted for the 1.2 clio gearbox so i could have a stereo.

I havent taken pics of it recently really as it looks a state lol

Thanks for reading :)
